Albert W. Al Strassburger Albert W. "Al" Strassburger, age 91, of Egeria Road, Odd, WV, passed away at the Beckley VA Medical Center on Friday, February 15, 2019.
Born on July 15, 1927, in Dorchester, WI, he was the son of the late Walley and Minnie Strassburger.
Al was a retired bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines, and was a WWII and Korean Conflict Veteran, serving his country for 10 years in the Marine Corps, and later in the US Navy.
He was a member of Memorial Freewill Baptist Church on Egeria Road, American Legion Post 32, VFW Post 4469, and Disabled American Veterans.
Al also was a member of the Masonic Lodge #95, AF&AM in Beckley, and was a previous Chaplain in the lodge. He was a member of Order of Eastern Star Lodge #33 in Athens, and Scottish Rite #32 Beni Kedem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Della Airey.
Those survivors left to cherish his memories include his wife of nearly twenty years, Norma Sue Taylor Strassburger; step son Lewis Airey of Odd, step daughter Amy Barton and husband Mike of Valley Center, CA; grandchildren: Scott Strassburger and wife Sherry of Dorchester, WI, Michael Levering of San Diego, CA, Bethany Levering of Lexington Park, MD, Lewis Airey III of Odd, and Sarah Barton of Valley Center, CA, and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 11AM with Rev. David Wilson, assisted by Rev. Charles Tilley, officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 9 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Beckley Masonic Lodge #95 AF &AM will serve as pallbearers and conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. The American Legion Post #32 will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any veterans organization. Sorry about al from an old greyhound driver in jax fl. Al was quite a legend with greyhound. Last saw you guys in orlando at a dinner. May he rip and god bless the family

I am so sorry to lose a good friend. He was a good Christian man. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.. He was with me and my sister when my sister Della Airey passed away.
