Alma June Hellems Adkins, 82, of Quinwood, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017.
Born on March 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elzie & Rosie Hellems.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Underwood Bud J. Adkins in Jan. 2016; brother, Hollie Hellems and grandson, Adam.
Survivors include 1 son, Randall (Twila) Adkins of Marfrance; 3 daughters, Brenda(Ray) Clendenin of Crab Orchard, Kimberly (Dwayne) Spencer of Quinwood, Kathy (Roger Jarrell) Bostic of Quinwood; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Osborne of Rupert, Retha (Reese) Russell of Charlotte, NC; brother, Larry Hellems of Charlotte, NC.
June put endless volunteering into her community by lending a helping hand at the QuinwoodFood Pantry and as a Firemenette with the Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department. June was a very hard dedicated worker throughout the years as an EMT with the West End/ Quinwood Ambulance as well as being a waitress at the Lamp Post, 24 Hour Lunch, J&S Restaurant, M&H Drive In, H&K Truck Stop and Marys Restaurant. June never met a stranger, regardless of where she went she had a sense of humor that was unbelievable. She was full of joy even on her darkest days. Her hobbies included playing bingo, game shows and being with her loved ones. Her job here on earth is complete; her loving soul shall now rest. June will be missed by so many, but she is now reunited with her husband of 60 years, Bud. The Adkins family would like to express their thanks to Quinwood Ambulance, Rainelle Medical Center and Rainelle Pharmacy for their patience, kindness and loving care.
Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Chad Rodes officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
