Events

Betty Jo Morgan Day, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. Her devotion to her husband Robert, her family and her firm belief in God supported her through the challenges with her illness.
Betty was born in Ox (Indian Creek), West Virginia to the late Bernard Wade and Margaret Jane (Short) Morgan, a coal miner, grocery store owner and Justice of the Peace and homemaker respectively. Her family were descendants of the Wyoming County pioneer families, John Cooke Sr. and Thomas Morgan. She was the oldest of five children and began attending church at an early age and had many dear friends and family members in the community.
She married her high school sweetheart Robert Day after he returned from serving in the Army in World War 2. They began their journey into the ministry by starting a Church of God in New Haven, Connecticut. They pastored many churches in Connecticut, Florida and West Virginia. She was blessed with many friends within the Church of God as she and her husband served the church faithfully for over 39 years. She was a pastor's wife at heart and was devoted to the many leadership roles within the church that she took on such playing the piano and organ which she was self-taught, leading the choir, teaching Sunday school classes, leading the ladies ministries groups, directing church Christmas plays and the church daycare. She was kind and soft-spoken and always made time for others in her church and loved being a homemaker where she enjoyed sewing, cooking, growing flowers in her yard and taking care of her husband, Robert. Together they traveled to 48 states, Canada and Mexico. Betty was also a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution and graduated with an Associates Degree in Business from West Virginia Community College when she was in her early 50's. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate her faith in Christ.
