Betty Jo Redden, 84, passed away surrounded by her family Friday, September 8th at home in Oxford, Ohio where she lived for more than 50 years. Betty Jo was a longtime employee of Miami University and served many hungry college students at Martin Dining Commons. She was a fabulous cook, an avid thrift store shopper and loved of all kinds of music.
Betty Jo was born August 23, 1933 in Springdale, WV. She is preceded in death by her parents Basil Redden and Velda Gill Redden, brothers Charles and Richard Redden, sister Retha June Redden, daughter Marlene Abrams and granddaughter Jolene Abrams. She is survived by brothers Benny Lee, Raymond (Genevee), and Gary (Sue) Redden; sisters Rebecca (John) Akers and Rita (Cameron) Plum; children Rhonda (Michael) Whited, Deborah (Don) Gaskill, Ashley (Jay) Slouffman and Mark Ridenour; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and constant companion Derick Amos.
Visitation is Saturday, September 16th from 6pm-8pm at the United Methodist Church in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. The memorial service is at the church on Sunday at 1:30 with Rev. Robby Shorter officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, West Virginia.
