Billy Joe Whitt


Billy Joe Whitt "Bill", age 70, of Sophia, passed away on June 30, 2019 in Pittsburgh, PA at the Veteran's Hospital.
He was the son of the late Wirt and Belva Whitt. He was born on December 13, 1948 in Amigo, WV.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Army over 8 years and attended Sophia Freewill Baptist Church.
He loved spending his time camping and RVing with his grandchildren and their friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Jessica Nicole Wilson; 6 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 and a half years, Linda (Griffith) Whitt; daughter Tina Marie Wilson (Theodore); son Billy Joe Whitt Jr. (Melanie); brother Ronnie Whitt (Vicky); grandchildren Ashley Murray (Tyler), Tiffany Ann Wilson, Lee Whitt, Theodore Wilson II, Ronald Wilson, Skylar Whitt, Alex Wilson, Rileigh Wilson, and Emaleigh Wilson; great grandson Corbin Murray; special nieces Tammy Whitt Tooley and Kimberly Carter; special nephew Michael Whitt; sister-in-law Shirley Whitt; and his loving canine companion, Rocman.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Friday, July 5th, 2019 from 6-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Beckley, American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association in memory of Bill.
