Bruce P. Miller Jr.

Bruce P Miller Jr., 79, of Crab Orchard, WV died on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley,
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bruce P. Miller Sr. and Lola (Kilgore) Miller, both of Man. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Janet (Wooten) Miller of Logan.
He is survived by his family, which he loved with all his heart, including his daughters, Lynn (Ron, Jr.) George and Kimberly (Gregg) Semple, both of Fayetteville; brother, Denny (Kathy) Miller of Man; sister, Beulah (Harold) Chapman of Chicago, IL; grandchildren , Meri Thomas, Beth (Josh) Roles, Zach Semple, and Cassie Semple, all residents of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Amy Thomas and Lydia Roles, also residing in Fayetteville; and nieces, Denise (Chris) White of Madison and Tracie (Mike) Kitchen of Sumerco.
Born on June 18, 1940 in Man, he graduated Man High School at age 16 before enrolling in Marshall College, now known as Marshall University. There he earned a teaching degree and upon graduation began his teaching career at Pax Junior High. After 3 ½ years, he transferred to Mount Hope High School where he taught for another 36 years.
If you knew him, you knew he was proud of Marshall University and attended each home football game and stayed to the last play with his friend since college, Tom Cloer. He also liked to hang out with all his "cronies" at Link's Pennzoil in Beaver - owned by his good friend, Kerry Link. Once he was finished there, he would often drive his little red sports car to Jarrell's pharmacy - owned by his friend of 40 years, Doug Jarrell. He and Doug spent many hours enjoying old stories. There he also became a second dad to Michele Keaton. He also loved to visit his close friend Gabrielle Elmore of Crab Orchard.
He was also a born again Christian, attending Fayetteville Baptist Church when health permitted.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with visitation for the public beginning at 12 pm followed by funeral services at 1 pm. Graveside services will be immediately following at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Prosperity.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Road, Beckley, WV 25801.
