Byron Ray "Buddy" Mullens, 80, of Mullens, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, surrounded by his family.
Born March 12, 1939, at Pineville, he was the son of the late Stacy and Malone (Cox) Mullens.
Buddy was a U.S. Army Veteran, member and Deacon of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M., United Transportation Union, and the American Legion. Buddy was also a former employee on the Norfolk and Southern Railroad serving as an Engineer for 37 years. In his leisure he enjoyed camping along with his wife, Barbara, at Myrtle Beach and Florida and playing golf.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Phillips.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Mullens of Mullens; two daughters, Jennifer Lashley and her husband, Mark, of Jensen Beach, FL, and Staci Phillips and her husband, Kevin, of Herndon; four grandchildren, Casey and Jessica Phillips, Zachary and Britney Phillips and Jace and Kailynn Lashley; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, David Mullens and his wife, Pat, of Concord, NC, and Leslie Mullens and his wife, Nila, of Charmco.
Services will be 12 Noon, Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, with Rev. Lewis Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Members of the Mullens Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M. will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, 319 Highland Avenue, Mullens, WV 25882, or Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25882.
