Carol E. Asbury
Carol E. Asbury, age 80, of Fairdale, WV formerly of Clear Creek, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the home of her son, Thomas Newman.
Born on August 24, 1939 at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Carlos E. Walker and Dorothy Maynor Walker.
Carol was the former owner and operator Carol's Grocery at Clear Creek, and was a charter member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church at Saxon.
She enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Her church and grandchildren were her life. Carol was a caregiver to many family members during her life. She dearly loved the Lord, and his praise was dearly on her lips until the very end of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James E. Asbury, and a sister Judith Jane Walker.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her sons, Timmy Newman and wife Bonnie of Delbarton, WV, and Thomas Newman and wife Teresa of Fairdale. A brother, Lawrence Walker and wife Julie of Clear Creek, WV; two sisters Dinah Walker of Oak Hill, WV and Joyce Abrams of Clear Creek, WV.
Nine grandchildren, Sarah Keffer, Savannah Newman, Sabrina Braddock, Linzie Newman, Sabrina Carden, Stacie Bolen, Tommy Newman Jr., Jamie Newman, and Allison Newman. 19 great grandchildren also survive.
The family asks that safe practices to be observed regarding the
coronavirus pandemic.
A service will be held at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church at Saxon on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2 PM with Elder David Morris and Minister Mike Mortimer officiating. A private burial will follow at Workman's Creek Cemetery near Clear Creek. A visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the
