Carol Anne Sweeney

Events

Carol Anne Mays Sweeney, 78, of Murrells Inlet, SC (formerly of Daniels, WV) went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. She was born March 23, 1941 to the late Luke and Golda Mays in Beaver, WV. She loved her family, loved talking with people, and had a great talent for interior design. She met the love of her life, William "Bee" Sweeney in high school. They were happily married for 58 years and had three children together. Although Carol held several jobs over the years, she always said being a wife and mother was the best job she ever had. Carol was especially proud of her children and deeply cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Along with Bee, she is survived by her children, their spouses, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Son Greg Sweeney (Pam, Evan, and Aaron); daughter Lisa Sweeney Barnett (Grady, Ross, and Katie); son Andy Sweeney (Angela, Hannah, and Luke); and great-grandchildren, Indiana and Charlotte, with a great-grandson on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Howard (Marlene) Mays of Beckley, and sister, Irene Mays Pauley. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Billy and Chuck. A private family memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends consider making a donation to the hospice organization of your choice.

I worked with Carol at REI Consultants for many years. She was a wonderful person both inside and out. Also, worked with Angie there. We visited with Bee & Carol at their house in SC and had a great time. So sorry to hear about her passing. May God be with all of you at this difficult time. You are all in our prayers.

Carol had a good sense of humor. On a vacation to Myrtle Beach one year, we were invited to stop by and see Carol and Bee at their new home along with Andy and Angie. When I asked how will I know which house was her’s, she said, “Easy, we are from West Virginia, so just look for the house with the refrigerator on the front porch.”
