Charles Richard Waine, age 87, of Beckley, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Arburndale, Florida.
Born on February 1, 1931, in Fairdale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Israel Waine Jr. and Martha Belle Proud Waine.
Mr. Waine was a graduate of Penn State University, where he was a member of the football team. He was a retired mining engineer, having worked at Olga Coal Company, Coalwood, WV, Pittston Co. in VA and WV, Cannelton Inc., Charleston, WV, and lastly, for GAI Consultants.
Mr. Waine attended Mount Hope Baptist Temple, and was a member of Professional Engineers Association. He enjoyed genealogy and Penn State Football.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Waine was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Waine.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bessie Tyree Shumate; a daughter, Kimberly Waine Ryder and husband, Tom, of Manassas, Virginia; a son, Charles Richard "Chuck" Waine II and wife, Samantha, of Delbarton, WV; four grandchildren; Katelyn Elizabeth Ryder, Joshua Richard Waine, Carlee Elizabeth Waine, and Charles Richard "Chaz" Waine, III.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Rev. Jim Ash officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until 2 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
