Charles Jerome Williams, "Jerry", 67, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 15, 2017 in Northwest Washington, DC.
Born December 20, 1949 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Charles E. Williams and Marian L. Hedgeman Williams Gore.
Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Hinton High School and a 1986 graduate of Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Serving from 1969-72 in the Vietnam War, he was a US Army war veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Jerry worked in Project Management at the Bethesda Maryland well known National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In retirement, he enjoyed his favorite pass times such as fishing and outdoor activities often with his son, nieces and nephews who loved spending time with him. He also enjoyed listening to a variety of music especially both jazz and Motown music, and as an avid sports fan, rooted for his favorite teams: the Redskins, Steelers and Ravens. He was of Baptist faith.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Williams.
Survivors include his loving spouse, Victoria "Vicki" Scelp of Washington, DC., his son, Jourdain "J" Williams of Hinton, one granddaughter Jourdan Williams of Washington DC, one brother, Carl "Lot" Williams of Hinton, four sisters, Christina Gore and Lawana Williams both of Hinton, Valerie L. Battle and Jackie Bush both of Washington DC, Step Mom Doris Williams of Washington, DC,. Sisters-in-law, Jeri Shuits of Freedom, PA, Deborah Williams of Columbus, OH. Brothers-in-law, Jeff Scelp & wife Roxanne, Greg Scelp and Nick Scelp, all of Midland, PA. A host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday December 2, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Matthew Saunders officiating. Interment will be in Esquire Cemetery near Hinton. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial reception will be held at the McCreery Conference Center immediately following the memorial.
