Charlotte "Gert" Covey Massie, 75, of Crab Orchard, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born May 18, 1943, at Glen White, she was the daughter of the late Charles Noah and Virginia Dare Covey.
Mrs. Massie was a homemaker and motherly figure to many. She brought much joy and inspiration to others through her jewelry, card making and daily postings. She was also an active member of Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lundy Franklin Massie.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Franklin Massey of Boone, NC, and Jerry Lee and (wife) Crystal Massie of Jacksonville, NC; three daughters, Sherry Lynn Gill and (husband) Thomas of Lexington Park, MD, Tammy Sue and (husband) Willie Willis of Crab Orchard and Barbara Jean and (husband) Mike Pierce of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Charles and (wife) Patsy Covey of Shady Spring and Donald and (wife) Donna Covey of Lenoir, NC; one sister Debbie and (husband) Buddy Matics of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Eliza Massie, Thomas Harris, Latia Taylor, Latrese Harris, Ryan Willis, Amanda Willis, Tyler Willis, Stephanie Mitchem, Kelsey Pierce; great-grandsons, Aiden Mills, Cameron Crouch, Landon Willis, and great-granddaughters Cenyiah Simms, Lailya Harris, Annie Harris, Kiara Massie.
Funeral will be 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 2nd, at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Charles Acord officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 12:00pm to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Wednesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
