Corena Lafferty Bradford, 83 of Sophia, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Denny and Esther Wills Lafferty.
Born October 26, 1932 in Rock Creek, West Virginia.
Corena was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She won numerous individual and team tournament events, making many friends along the way. She retired from Heartland Nursing Home in Beckley, where she worked for 20 years as the midnight shift nursing supervisor. During this time, she trained many employees and continually demanded the best of them.
For the past two and a half years, she resided at The Inn at The Villages of Greystone in Beaver where along with her sidekick, Sugar, she continued this work. Pushing and testing each caregiver to their limits with her wit and wile but as she did with her employees, wormed her way into their hearts. She was cared for with much love and respect by each member of the staff.
Corena was known for her spunk, humor, frankness and generosity to her family, close friends and neighbors. She gave each of us to tell and a memory to keep. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she is now reunited with her loving husband, John Bradford; brothers, Herl and Donald Lafferty; sister, Gloria Lafferty Clay, all from Cleveland, Oh.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Janie Bradford Webber and husband Tracy of Beckley and Judy Bradford Lilly of Beckley; son, John Bradford of Glen Daniel; sisters, Maxine Lafferty Sevin of PA and Glenna Lafferty Price of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, James Rowe and wife Jennifer of Nashua, NH, Julie Rowe Gunnoe of Beckley, Shawn Bradford of Charleston, J.R. Bradford and wife Tina of Glen Daniel, Joshua Lilly of Cool Ridge, Margaret Webber Pellino and husband Joe of Atlanta and Gabriel Webber of Atlanta; seven great grandchildren; two special childhood and lifelong friends, Bonnie Brock Clay of Saxon, WV and Mona Lee Wakeland of Grove City, Oh.
