Dana's Story

Dana Edward Halstead, 75, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, August 1, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family, due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease.
Born October 18, 1941, at home in Tamroy, West Virginia, he was the middle son born to Earl and Daisy (Bailes) Halstead.
He married Mary Kay Rice, Bradley, West Virginia, on April 1, 1960. He graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1960. He continued his education at Appalachian Bible College and Calvary Bible College, graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology in 1969. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1977. During his ministry, he helped plant four churches located in Shawnee, Olathe and Lee's Summit. He was the Guaranteed Foods Chaplain, in Lenexa, for six years. His pastoral ministry continued with the founding of Heritage Community Church, Olathe, Kansas, retiring in 2005.
He is survived by his wife: son, Rick, and 2 daughters, Lisa (Steve), Janda (Brian); 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Alan, Larry (Glenna), Dennis (Gloria) and Kevin (Melissa).
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Henrietta (Alan) Halstead and granddaughter Brianna Danae Linin.
A Celebration of Life service will be August 13, 2017 at Christ Community Church, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation starting at 1:00 and service at 2:00. He was buried at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens with a private, family service.
