David Henry Bashaw 77, passed away on Nov. 26, at his home in Jupiter, FL.
He was born on March 3, 1940, in Norwich, CT, to John C. and Christina Keefe Bashaw.
While growing up in Wheeling, WV, he met and married Beverly Wallace. Dave always said that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He attended Wheeling Central High and graduated from ST. Vincent's Prep in Latrobe, PA.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, one of which was in Germany, Dave attended and graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He remained a diehard Mountaineer fan throughout his life.
Dave then became a CPA with Ernst & Ernst in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1972, Dave and his family relocated to Beckley, WV, where he spent 25 years as a partner and owner of the CPA firm, Mason and Bashaw. In 1997, he moved to Jupiter full time where he joined Vecellio Group as CFO as Executive Vice President of Finance.
Dave was a man of great strength, integrity, and character which influenced the people he interacted with. With his "sunny' disposition, Dave was feared by many, but loved by all. Loving competition and with a strong desire to win, Dave was infamous on the handball court and also in the boardroom. Being a very generous man, he contributed to several charitable organizations or a regular basis. Dave felt very fortunate to have enjoyed all the diverse and numerous friendships established throughout his life.
He was an extremely devoted husband and father who loved sharing stories and reminiscing with his children and grandchildren. We take great comfort in knowing that he was doing just that on Thanksgiving and was truly at peace.
Left to honor his memory is his wife of 57 years, Beverly; two sons, Scott (Ivelesse), Kevin (Shasta), two daughters, Colleen Bashaw and Kelly Bashaw Breedlove. Dave has ten grandchildren; Billy Harrah, Jackson, Jacob, and Joshua Bashaw, and Arden Sanford, Ross Sanford (Elizabeth), Jaclyn, Bridget, Sophia, and Samantha Bashaw, and great-granddaughter Clementine; sister, Beverly Brennan, brother, Dennis Bashaw, and several nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his grandson, Rickie Harrah, and son-in-law, Les Breedlove.
A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 11:00 am on January 22, 2018.
