Donzal Lee Morgan, 84 of Vineland, New Jersey, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and best little friend Benny on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Donzal was born in Hunt, West Virginia on November 18, 1932 to Theodore Gussie Morgan and Georgie Davis Thompson. Blessed to have had 2 of the most wonderful step parents, the late Charles Thompson and Hazel Morgan to love and watch over him as he grew into the man he became.
In addition to his parents and step parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: Gussie "Buddy" Morgan and Rodney "Smokie" Morgan; his great granddaughter: Carleigh Morgan Cooke.
Donzal served in the United States Army in Hitosi, Japan as a tank gunner from 1948 to 1950 before his Honorable discharge. He spent the next 42 years mastering the coal mining industry throughout the coalfields of southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky. Working hard and earning the position of General Mine foreman and General Superintendent for many years.
Donzal worked at Radio Shack in Gilbert with his brother "Buddy" for several years, he was also manager of the Radio Shack at Pikeville, Kentucky. He was an avid NASCAR fan who loved bowling, boating, fishing and so much more. Until his death he loved to laugh and joke, always with a smile and a quick wit. His family and those close to him will miss the sparkle of his eyes and the joy his laughter and smile spread. We are comforted to know he is in the presence of Christ.
Donzal is survived by his wife: Joyce Morgan of Vineland, New Jersey; his 5 children: Wenda Viruet, wife of the late Louis Viruet of Vineland, New Jersey, Nickandrea Cooke and husband Ed Ferguson of Huntington, WV, Patty Quesenberry and husband Jerry of Mullens, WV, Jeffrey Morgan and wife Debbie, of Jacksonville, Florida, Reverend Barry Morgan and daughter Bianca, of Vineland, New Jersey; his 5 siblings: Teddy Thompson, Roger Morgan, Deanna West, Robert Douglas Morgan and Lana Morgan Kenneda. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Friends may gather with the family Friday, January 20, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 am with the Rev. Barry Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, WV.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Quesenberry, Aaron Viruet, Jason Cooke and Chad Quesenberry.
Military services will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #141, Belfry, Kentucky.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
