Dorothy 'Dottie' Faye Hostetter

Events

On Friday, June 28th, 2019, Dorothy "Dottie" Faye Hostetter passed away after a several year struggle with dementia.
Dorothy was born in Kaymoor, WV on April 29, 1928. She was the daughter of her loving mother, Mollie May (Donnally) Pennington and her loving father, George H. "Chent" Pennington. She had one brother, George H. Pennington who is deceased.
She attended Fayetteville High School and graduated in 1945. After graduation from high school she worked for several years as a telephone operator in Fayetteville, WV.
She was married in 1947 in Catlettsburg, KY to James M. "Hoppy" Hostetter and had been married 63 years at the time of her husband's death in 2010.
She is survived by her son, Dr. James Hostetter Jr of Atlanta, GA and their daughter, Penny Marie Allen and son-in-law, Christopher of Cartersville, GA. Dorothy is also survived by her grandson, James M. Hostetter III and his wife Barbara of Atlanta, GA and three grandchildren, Sydney (age 17), James IV (age 13), and Jason (age 4) Hostetter.
Dorothy was an active member of the Church of God in Fayetteville, WV until moving to Atlanta, GA in 2008. Those who knew her always saw a smile and a laugh on her face, and knew her as someone with a pleasant word for anyone she met. She was a kind, considerate, generous and always friendly individual to anyone and everyone who knew her and was the first to step up to help anyone in need.
Dorothy's passing is a huge loss to her remaining family and she will be remembered, loved and missed as long as any of us remain on this earth. The holiday feast that she and her mother prepared were legendary. The dinner rolls gigantic; her turkey so sweet, and the cranberry salad unforgettable as well as the pumpkin pie, but the best part was the laughter and conversation around the table during those dinners. These are the things the ones who loved us and ones we loved leave behind.....what a gift these memories are.
We will miss her more than she could have ever imagined.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
