Edith Marie Banks Dickerson

Edith Marie Banks Dickerson was born in Concho, WV on Nov. 28, 1927.
Edith was the fifth child of her parents, Lawrence and Lurley Bank's six children. Edith's parents and siblings would later move to Skelton, WV. Ultimately, the Bank's family would make one more move, and settle in Beckley, WV. This is where Edith would remain most of her life. In 1945, she graduated from Stratton High School. Later she would enroll in beauty culture school where she pursued a career in cosmetology. After graduating she caught the entrepreneur spirit. She would create her own business. ON March 25, 1954, Edith's Beauty Shop was born. For nearly 60 years Edith would serve the community as a successful hairstylist and beauty consultant.
If you were fortunate enough to have known Edith, then you experienced an adorable woman with a sweet personality. You would also know that she was a fashion icon. She was astute in the latest styles. She was creative and a trendsetter. She was always impeccably dressed in some matching ensemble. Purple was her favorite color, and she wore it often. Her hairstyle was also part of her image. Her trademark high bun accompanied her beautiful outfits. When Edith attended church, went shopping or attended social events, she would be flooded with compliments on her appearance. Beckley lost one of its stars on May 27, 2019. Edith was deeply loved, and will be sorely missed. She was a beautiful soul, both inside and out. She was a lifetime member of the Second Baptist Manor House Church, 700 'F' Street, Beckley, WV.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dickerson Sr.; parents, Lawrence and Lurley Banks; sisters, Agnes Banks Robertson and Elsie Banks; brother, Lawrence Banks Jr.; nephew, Kenneth Robertson.

My heartfelt prayers and condolences to your family. May God grant you peace and comfort while you are grieving. God is a hearer of prayers. He will wipe away all tears and death will be no more. Revelation 21: 3,4.

Mrs. Dickerson was one on my mother, Grace Anderson''s, best loved friends, whom she lovingly called "Tish." They are happy to be reunited. This obituary captures the essence of this wonderful lady's loyal sweet life of which my family was blessed to enjoy..
