Edith 'Carol' Young Dodd

March 26, 1942 - May 21, 2018

At 11:35pm on Monday, May 21, our beloved Edith "Carol" Young Dodd transitioned peacefully from her weary body to the waiting arms of her beloved Lord.
Carol was born on March 26, 1942 in the Brooklyn area of Oak Hill and was an Oak Hill resident her entire life.
Carol's engaging personality resulted in a host of loving friends, and her passion for Mickey Mouse was known by all.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Samuel Forest and Mary Cheslock Young, loving husband Roy P. Dodd, brother Charles Young, and brother and sister-in-law Warner and Mary Young.
She is survived by chosen son and daughter-in-law Lee and Jane Ann Drake, sister Myrna Birkhart, sister-in-law Elizabeth Young, granddaughters Nicole Phares and Kristin Perry, great grandchildren Ainslee and Easton Phares, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at her cherished Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church on Terry Ave in Oak Hill, officiated by Pastor Pete Lokant, on Saturday, May 26, at 3pm. There will be a time of fellowship with family and friends from 1 to 3pm prior to her funeral. Interment will be at High Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, May 29 at 1pm.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Dodd, Jim Johns, Travis Meador, Bobby Pauley, William Groom, and Scotty Strohn.
In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made in her memory to her Church or to Hospice of Southern WV.
Her family would like to thank High Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery for their kind assistance as we remember Carol.
