Edmund Lawrence "Larry" Washburn, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born February 4, 1939 in Jane Lew, WV, he was the son of the late, Hayward Charles Washburn and Thelma Marie Holden Washburn.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Washburn McKenna Bowman and brother, Gerald K. Washburn.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Lyle R. Washburn and wife, Angie of Princeton, WV; beloved mother of his children and former spouse of 42 years, Shirley A. Bowen Washburn; four children, Rebecca "Becky" Washburn Stover Arthur and partner, Patrick McGraw of Fayetteville, WV, John S. Washburn and partner, Debbie Johnson of Roanoke, VA, Jill E. Washburn Toney and husband, Mike of Shady Spring, WV, Keith L. Washburn and wife, Laura of Pinch, WV; grandchildren, Allen W. Stover, Matthew S. Washburn, Cody A. Washburn, Brian M. Toney, Jason A. Toney, Kelli L. Toney Aliff, Bethany J. Washburn Burkhart, Alison D. Washburn, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Larry was a retired preacher, heavy equipment operator and a jack of all trades. He loved life on the farm, attending church and helping his neighbors. He will be missed on earth but will live forever in Heaven.
Friends and family will celebrate his life at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Jane Lew, WV, on February 17th at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Stanley Herrod presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you send a donation to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1909 Mineral Road, Jane Lew, WV 26378 or to the Bowers Hospice House at 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 in his memory.
