Emma's Story

West Virginia supercentenarian Emma Donna Radford went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the age of 110.
A former resident of Backus Mountain, she was a member of and organist at Oak Grove Baptist Church at Backus Mountain. She had resided at PIney View and later was a resident at Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville, WV. The family deeply appreciates the love and care shown and given to her by all at the Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on May 14, 1907, at Backus Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Bertie Garfield Goins and Minnie Smith Goins. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jesse M. Radford, a sister Thelma Goins, a brother Elgie R. Goins, and a nephew Richard Goins.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include nieces, Lillian Lewis, Glenna Goins, Rosalie Harvey, and Carol Polar. Also there are several great and great-great nieces and nephews surviving.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at 11AM with Mr. Burnice Lewis officiating. A private interment for family members will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until service time of 11AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
