Emory's Story

Emory W. Ballengee, 85, of Rupert passed away on December 25, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Beckley.
Born on April 13, 1932, at Bellwood, he was the son of the late Wayne Hiram and Mamie Jane Epperley Ballengee.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Suttle Ballengee in 2016; 3 sisters, Dorothy Killen, Ora Starcher and Marie Ellison.
Emory was a US Army Korean veteran receiving the Purple Heart award; a member of the Gideons International; an insurance sales agent, who sold insurance for over 50 years before his retirement. He was a past Rotary Club member, Rupert Volunteer Fire Department member and also a past member of the WV United Methodist Foundation.
Survivors are a son, Bruce Ballengee of Harrisonburg, VA; sister, Mary Erdely of Rupert and Glenda Killen of Rupert; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Jonathan Dierdorff and Pastor Denver Tiller officiating. Burial will be in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call 6 -8 pm Friday evening at the chapel.
