Eugene Kenneth Hatcher
Eugene Kenneth Hatcher, age 88, of Daniels, WV, passed away at Hidden Valley Health Care Center in Oak Hill, WV, on Friday October 11, 2019.
Born on March 9, 1931, in Daniels, WV, he was the son of the late John Henry Hatcher and Mamie Vandora Walls Hatcher.
Mr. Hatcher was a former long haul truck driver for 25 years, and retired as a surface mine employee, where he operated heavy equipment. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations to ocean beaches, in North Carolina and Florida. Mr. Hatcher was a long-time member of Daniels Bible Church, where he enjoyed serving the Lord.
He held a commercial pilot's license, and was a former member of the Raleigh County Flying Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Lee Smith Hatcher, daughter Peggy Sue Lilly, brothers Lowell, Loren, and Earl Hatcher, and by sisters Leona Bolen and Millie Redden.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his sons, Alan E. Hatcher and wife Alice, of Piney View, and Jerry Kenneth Hatcher and wife Karen of Daniels.
A daughter Janet Lee May and husband Tim of Roanoke, VA.
Nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at 11AM with Pastor Carl Dingus officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
