Evelyn's Story

Evelyn Grace Holobeck, 76, of Hico, WV, died on June 24, 2017, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and cancer.
Born March 18, 1941, in Clifty, WV, she was the daughter of the late Abraham L. and Edith Kesler Carte.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Scott Holobek, in 1986 and a granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Smigel, in 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Lynn Smigel, and grandchildren, Michael Smigel and twins, Nicholas and Alexis Smigel, two sisters Joanna and husband Jon Skaggs of Lewisburg and Sue Eckenrode of Loretto, PA, 4 brothers James of Denham Springs, LA, Mitch of Hico, Timothy of Northern Virginia and James McCoy of Asbury, WV. Also surviving are her Aunt Josephine Norman of League City, TX, and her Uncle George Kesler of McMinnville, TN, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Evelyn loved the Lord and accepted Him as her Savior at Kesler Memorial Presbyterian Church on November 25, 1951. She attended elementary school at Clifty and then completed high school and 2 years of college in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her occupation was marketing director for a newspaper in Indiana. She was also Crusade Chairperson for the American Cancer Society in Williamsport Township area of Indiana in 1971. She retired and moved back to WV to care for her mother, who passed in 2006. She was very active in the BPW Club, real estate rentals and the Red Hat Society. Evelyn lived her life sharing and caring for others.
Funeral services will be held on June 27, 2017, at 2 PM, at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Ansted, WV, with Rev. Freddie Parkins and Rev. Randy Skaggs officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Kesler Memorial Cemetery at Hico. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family thanks the staff for all the wonderful love and care given to Evelyn at both Summersville Extended Care and Peyton Hospice House.
