Parkulo, Franklin, 80, of MacArthur, departed this earth on Monday, November 19, 2017 at the Bowers Hospice House after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born August 6, 1937, in Tams, he was the son of the late John and Helen Callopie Parkulo.
Franklin was a 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion Post 32. He was the founder and owner of Concrete Specialty Co., Inc. which he started in 1964 and retired from in 2005. He was a lifetime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and a member of the Father Halpin Council of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Winifrede Parkulo, three brothers, George, Michael, and Danny Richard Parkulo and a grandson, Chad Lechlinski.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Costelli Parkulo; his daughter, Theresa Smolder Godbey; his sons, John, of Daniels, David and his wife, Lisa, of Beckley, Dr. Mark and his wife, Marie, of Jacksonville, Fl., and Michael, and his wife, Suzanne of Bradley; her children, whom he considered his own, Sue and Donna Greene, of Shallotte, NC, John and Lynn Greene of Jacksonville, NC, and Tommy and Shelly McClung of Eccles; his 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren whom he adored and loved dearly; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Rev.Fr. Paul Wharton V.F. as the celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley. Friends may visit with family at Melton Mortuary on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Joe Parkulo, Charles Parkulo, Eddie Quesenberry, Daniel Shuck, Bill Rose and Billy Rose will serve as pallbearers.
