HINTON [ndash] Glenn Howard Virts, 87 of Hinton, West Virginia died March 9, 2019.
He was born Sept 6, 1931 in Loudoun County, Virginia to the late Jessie Peacock and Luther Jacob Virts. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Leslie Virts and Junior Virts and two sisters; Ethel Stevens and Betty Ashby. Also one sister-in-law Glenna Nida. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in- law Bertha Wood and father -in-law James Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Willie (Betty) Virts. Four children Glenda Landreth, Jeff Virts, Monica Virts, and Connie Hellems. He also is survived by Wayne Treadway whom he raised as a child and one brother Joe Virts. Six grandchildren; Brandon, Kevin, Devon, Gabrielle, Sennet, Kelly and one great grand child Mason. Glenn is also survived by two brother-in-laws Earl Wood and Tom Wood and one sister-in-law Gail Richmond.
Glenn proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea and Japan. He settled in Hinton in 1972 after marrying his wife Betty.
Glenn was a welder by trade and was a follower of the Baptist faith. Glenn enjoyed woodworking in his workshop; family gatherings; gardening and his pets.
His body was laid to rest with military honors on March 12, 2019 at the Mt. View Cemetery with Rev. Luke Richmond officiating.
His family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of the VA Hospital in Beckley and the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hilldale.
