Gloria Marie Forren, 89, of Meadow Bridge, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 25, 2018, in the Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, from complications due to pneumonia.
Born May 14, 1929, in Rainelle, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William "Bill" and Daisy Carr Houchins.
Gloria was a homemaker but enjoyed serving as a caregiver for several years while living in Florida. She also enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music, and helping to revitalize the First Pentecostal Church of East Rainelle.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Olen Robert "Bus" Forren; her son Ronald Caperton Forren; 3 brothers Billy Howard, Garland, and Echols Houchins; and 2 great-grandchildren Ava Bennett and Justin Forren.
Survivors include 2 daughters Tuana Tucker of Bedford, Virginia, and Jean Blevins and husband Roby of Melbourne, Florida; 1 son Charles Ward and wife Diane of Smoot; 1 sister Peggy Day of Meadow Bridge; 2 sisters-in-law Joan Forren of Gridley, California, and Eloise Houchins of Alderson; 2 grandchildren Carla Coles and Jonathan Coles, both of Bedford, Virginia; 4 great-great-grandchildren Jiah and Aleah Bennett and Maximus and Jeffrey Coles; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank all her caring neighbors and lifelong friends for bringing joy to her life. Special appreciation to Mary Jones of Bellburn, who served as her caregiver. Gloria was blessed with compassionate care from the nurses and doctors at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center ICU department.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastors Frank Murdock and Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Forren Cemetery at Smoot.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 1 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Pentecostal Church of East Rainelle; address will be provided at the service.
