James Richard Bryant
Born on February 7, 1946, in Shady Spring, he was the son of the Cecil E. Bryant and Melva Bair Bryant.
Mr. Bryant was of the Baptist faith and attended Open Door Church in Shady Spring. He was a retired coal mine equipment operator for Alpha Resources and a member of the UMWA. Mr. Bryant enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Mack, Shelvie and Thomas Bryant.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sue Wright Bryant of Shady Spring; five children, Kevin Bryant of Crawfordville, FL, Angella Petty and husband Bob of Maryville, TN, Scott Bryant and wife Kim of Shady Spring, Jennifer Vest and husband Keith of Cool Ridge, and Karen Petitt of Princeton; five grandchildren, Hope Bryant of Shady Spring, Kelsey and Jacob Vest of Cool Ridge, and Steven Bryant and Elizabeth Petty of Maryville, TN; one sister, Wilda Ratcliffe and husband John of North Augusta, SC. Mr. Bryant also leaves behind his special cat, Lucy.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11AM, with Pastor Don Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
