James 'Rick' Richard Landes


James 'Rick' Richard Landes, 73, of Beaver, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at home following a short illness.
Born July 5, 1945, in Keyser, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Thelma Opal Fleming Landes.
Rick retired from Anchor Glass as a line supervisor after 20 plus years of employment. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was known to many as "Coach" for his years of coaching young men midget league football all the way through Potomac State College. He was a member of the Moose and Eagle Clubs. He attended Victory Baptist Church in Beaver.
He was an avid golfer with a regular group of guys every Wednesday. He was the happiest when he was fishing with his brother, Jack and working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Katheryn Ridder; two sisters, Barbara Jean Haines and Betty Joanne Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Juanita Ritter Landes; a son, Mark (Wendy) Landes of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Amy (Shawn) White of Keyser; three stepsons, James "Bo," Michael and Shane Ritter of Beaver; a brother, Jack (Carol) Landes of Keyser; a sister, Deborah (Bo) Moreland of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Ethan, Camden and Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks tot he VA Medical Center in Durham, NC and Hospice of Beckley for the excellent devoted care provided to Rick.
A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Keyser, WV, on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with the service to follow.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home for the family and special friends on Saturday, June 15, 1 to 4 p.m., at 123 Chris St., Beaver, WV.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Potomac State Football, Keyser, WV.
