James "Jamie" Allen Manspile, 84, of Dawson, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea.
Born December 20, 1932, in Meadow Bluff, he was the son of the late Lacy and Eva Martin Manspile.
James was a US navy veteran. He worked as a truck driver for Burns Motor Freight for over 39 years. He enjoyed farming on his homestead. Jamie lived in the Meadow Bluff and Dawson area most of his life.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by 1 brother John Manspile and 1 sister Janet Cochran.
Survivors include his loving companion of 26 years, Margaret "June" Houchins Patton; 1 son Mark Manspile and wife Lisa of Mocksville, North Carolina; 2 daughters Beth Palmer and husband Archie of Orlando, Florida and Jeanne Houchins of Portland, Indiana; 2 brothers Jerry "Buzz" Manspile and Frank "Konk" Manspile (Gingy), all of Rainelle; 2 sisters Barbara Moschella of Jacksonville, Florida and Linda Casper and husband Mike of Mundelein, Illinois; 6 grandchildren Stephanie Palmer, Archie Palmer, Jr., Katelyn Manspile, Jessica Manspile, Jamie Canterbury, and Jeremy Canterbury; 1 great-grandson Brayden Lee; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., with Pastor Denver Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery at Crag.
