James Joseph "Jim" Smith, age 76, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Beckley, WV, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018.
Born on April 24, 1941, at Stotesbury, WV, he was the son of the late Edith J. Lovell Smith and James E. Smith.
Affectionately known by family and friends as Jim or Smitty, he was retired from Advance Auto in Charlotte, NC, and was a former well known automobile salesman in the Beckley area. He had been a resident of Charlotte, NC for 21 years, and attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Dorma Kay Heron Smith; children, Scotty Smith and wife, Kimberly, of Mint Hill, NC, Larry Smith of Southeast, Ohio, Gary Smith of Eagle River, Alaska, and Susan Fama of Crab Orchard; ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 2 PM with Mr. Jim Campbell and Connie Runyon officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
