James's Story

James C. Stoddard, 85, of Hinton went to meet his Heavenly Father Monday, December 25, 2017 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Born May 2, 1932 at Summers County he was a son of the late Albert "Whitey" and Ella Sadie Lilly Stoddard.
James was a member of the Avis Holiness Church where he served as a former pastor. He was a construction worker and painter who enjoyed the outdoors. James was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, JoAnn Eggleston, Shirley Matovich and Janice Ferrell and two brothers, Albert "Sonny" Stoddard and Ernie Stoddard.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Rhonda Edwards Stoddard of Hinton and Kim Brown of North Carolina; two sons, Matthew Stoddard of Hinton and companion Kelli Plumley and James "Bubby" Stoddard of Hinton; six grandchildren, Shayanne Hellems, Kristi West, Dustin Richmond, Jamie Watkins, Leah Edwards and Kensi Plumley; nine great grandchildren; siblings, Herbert Stoddard, Rosemary Cramer, Helen Richmond and Kathryn Friend; special friend, Jimmy Carr and best friend, Mabel Stoddard.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Ron Iddings officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
