John's Story

John Richard Davis, 69, of Rock Creek, WV, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV, after a long illness. He was born February 5, 1949, in Edwight, WV, a son of the late Gilbert and Catherine Dillon Davis. John was a retired Coal Miner and member of the UMWA with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, gardening, and cutting grass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jewel Martin and Barbara Scarbro, and three brothers, Franklin, Delbert, Gilbert. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Clara Jane Davis; a daughter, Beverly Jeffrey and husband, Marvin; a son, Brandon Davis; and grandchildren, Katherine, Kaleb, Kirsten, Alexis "Beverly's" Isaac "Brandon's." To special friends, Tommy Collins and Charles Edward "CE" Lynch.
Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon, March 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the Rebecca Chapel, Rock Creek, WV. Clergy Rev. Stephen Smith.
Visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the church.
Armstrong Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mr. Davis's request was for cremation following the service.
