John William "Bernard" Harvey, 91 years of age, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at his residence. Born on December 8, 1926 in Streeter, WV, he was the son of the late Eugene Livingston Harvey and Manora Alice Lilly Harvey.
Bernard served in the United States Army during World War II, having been stationed in Japan and California. He was a member of UMWA District #17, formerly District #29. He was a great woodworker and a skilled craftsman and served the Lord in the Primitive Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Eugene Livingston Harvey and Manora Alice Lilly Harvey he is preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Pyatt; and brothers, Golden Harvey, Harold Harvey, Garnett Harvey and Ray Harvey.
Bernard is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Elva Underwood Harvey; sons, Arthur Harvey and his wife, Barbara; William Harvey and his wife, Donna; and Joseph Harvey and his wife, Maxann; daughter, Ruth Ann Bowe and her husband, Lonnie; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Pack officiating. Graveside Services will follow in the Tower Garden of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends of Bernard Harvey will honor him by serving as Pallbearers.
