PETERSTOWN, WV - John Henry Zirkle, 64, of Peterstown, WV, went home to be with our Lord on June 5, 2017, at his residence, after a courageous battle with A.L.S.
John was born in Sutton, WV, on January 1, 1953, to the late Dennis and Betty Holcomb Zirkle.
He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, and a very devoted Uncle to all his many, many, nephews and nieces, whom he loved as his own.
John graduated from Richwood High School in 1970 and attended Glenville State College. John joined and graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1980 and proceeded with a career which spanned over 20 years. His dedicated service and duty were his lifelong passion until a serious back injury forced John to retire.
Once John retired, he and his loving wife, Sheila, built a dream home in Monroe County, Peterstown, WV, where his magnetic personality began to attract new friends and neighbors.
John leaves behind his beloved and adored wife of 36 years, Sheila Hinkle Zirkle; his brother, Dan Zirkle of Randolph County, WV; numerous brothers-in-laws, nephews, nieces, and McCartney John Hinkle.
John will be so missed by his wife, brother, brother-in-laws, nephews, nieces, State Police Family, and numerous friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Jerry Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Friends may call from 10:30 AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

A celebration and commemoration of John's life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, with a walk for A.L.S. The walk will be held in Peterstown, WV, and will begin at 8:00 AM.
