Jonathan David Hensley, age 50, of Fireco, WV, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home following a sudden illness.
A born again Christian, Jonathan was born on December 13, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, and was the son of Donald Hensley and Julie Meadows Hensley of Fireco.
Jonathan was a graduate of Independence High School and was a respiratory therapist at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. He served eleven years in the US Army, leaving as a Staff Sergeant. He went to work with General Dynamics training new troops to operate tanks. Jonathan served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.
Other than his parents, Donald and Julie Hensley, he is survived by his daughter, Heather London and husband, Nicholas, of Slab Fork; a grandson, Avi of Slab Fork; brother, Eugene Hensley of Simms Branch Road; sisters, Paula Landry and husband, Randy, of Columbus, Georgia, and Beth Riffe and husband, Tim, of Crab Orchard. He will be greatly and sadly missed by all that knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jonathan Hensley will be held at Cross Point Church at 110 Crescent Road in Beckley on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 6 PM with Pastor Vondie Cook officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. As per Jonathan's personal request, he will be cremated.
