Joseph  Korczyk Jr.
Joseph Korczyk Jr., age 88, of Beckley, WV, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.
Born on May 29, 1930, at Sarah Ann (Logan County), WV, he was the son of the late Joseph Korczyk and Sophia Sviznska Korczyk.
Mr. Korczyk was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service. In his early life, he worked for US Steel, hand-loading coal at #9 mine at Filbert, WV. A US Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, he was also a member of National Association of Letter Carriers and a member of Beckley Regular Baptist Church.
Mr. Korczyk enjoyed fishing with his Gary Hollow buddies at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia and was an avid WVU sports fan. He loved spending time with his granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Greg, and a daughter, Cindy.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Mary Cisco; a son, Doug Korczyk and wife, Nancy, of Beckley; three granddaughters, Kori Korczyk of Naples, FL, Kacy Korczyk of Beckley, and Kristie Korczyk of Stillwater, OK, and a grandson, J. J. Korcyzk of Oak Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 2 PM with Pastor Steve Beverly officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Cavendish, Bob Cook, Cliff McGlothlin, Larry Misiti, Greg Sproles, Joe Ross, Jeff Almond and Jeff Hutton.
