Joseph Robert 'Bob' Redden


Joseph Robert "Bob" Redden, age 88, of Grandview, WV, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born on April 12, 1930 at Grandview, he was the son of the late Hubert Michael Redden and Mary Clarabelle Moye Redden.
Mr. Redden was a retired coal miner, having worked both underground and surface mining. He was a member of the UMWA.
Mr. Redden was of the Baptist faith and had lived all of his life in Grandview. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, walking in the woods and cutting firewood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Michael Redden and Robert Dale Redden, and by sisters, Pauline Meadows, Frances Moss, Mary Smith and Imogene Fortner.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years, Thelma Faye Turner Redden; three children, William "Billy" Redden and wife Linda, Clara McGlothlin and husband Clint, and Ernest Redden and wife Janet, all of Grandview; two sisters, Helen Moye and husband Fred, of Beckley, and Norma Fortner of Spring Hill, FL; four grandsons, Robbie Redden and wife Christina, Donald McGlothlin, Jonathan McGlothlin and Jeremy Redden and wife Heather; seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, April 8, 2019 at noon with Pastor Daniel Roush officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
