Joyce Ann Roop Calhoun
Joyce Ann Roop Calhoun, age 84, of Midway, WV, went home to her Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019. Born in Pike County, Kentucky, on February 27, 1935, to William G. and Delsie Artrip Roop, Joyce was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, and a member of Little Bethel Chapel in Cool Ridge.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Willie Kay Roop Rowe, Verna Roop Osteen, and a brother Gerald Roop. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her spouse of 67 years, Rev. Larkin "Bill" Calhoun Sr, of Midway; three children, Jerry (Lupe) Calhoun of Gatlinburg, TN, Billy (Lisa) Calhoun of Beckley, and Terri (Hollis) Jones of Beckley.
Nine grandchildren: Grant Calhoun, Poliana Galeano Barton, Valentina Galeano-Calhoun, Brandon Calhoun, Amber Calhoun Sotak, Bethany James, Brittany Cook, Courtney Pena, and Derek Bowens. 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Mary Frances) Roop of Beckley, and Paul (Mary) Roop of Maple Fork. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, October 21, 2019, at 7 PM with Rev. Butch Acord officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until service time on Monday evening at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV, on Tuesday morning at 11AM.
