Kenneth Lee Vass


Kenneth Lee Vass, age 84, of Lindside, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born May 23, 1933, in Greenville, WV, he was the son of the late Jake and Pearl Pence Vass. Kenneth was a member of the Lindside United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board. He was a 50-year member of Monroe Lodge #77 AF&AM. Kenneth started his construction company, K.L. Vass, in 1960 and performed many jobs for the local community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Vass; and two brothers, Charles Donald Vass and Chester Vass. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Carol Mann Vass; one son, Nathan W. Vass of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Connie Thomas and husband Will of Lindside, WV; one brother, Jimmy Vass and wife Thelma Lee of Princeton, WV; four grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Lindside United Methodist Church in Lindside, WV, with Rev. Carl Mouser and Pastor Scott Ingleton officiating. Burial will follow at Swope Cemetery in Lindside, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church. Melvin & Ryker Young, Frank Wills, Tyler Vass, Curt Buttel, Richard "Happy" Worthington, Kenny Hines, and Matthew Vass will serve as pallbearers; Richard Bowers and William Broyles will serve as honorary pallbearers.
