Lottie Florence Ballengee Bennett
Lottie Florence Ballengee Bennett, age 95, of Shady Spring, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born on May 12, 1924 at Pluto, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Ballengee and Elizabeth Bennett Ballengee.
She was a retired cook for Richmond District High School, a member of Pluto Missionary Baptist Church, and had attended Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Bennett enjoyed quilting and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Bennett; a daughter, Betty Violet Bennett; a son, Ronald D. Bennett; by brothers, Oakley, Arthur and Billy Ballengee; by sisters, Rendia Plumley and Nora Hartsfield, and a great grandson, Mason Furrow.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Shirley Richmond and husband Dale, and Jerry Jeff Bennett, all of Shady Spring; a sister, Irene Richmond of Beckley; two grandchildren, Jamie Furrow and husband Ron, and Chris Richmond and wife Vicky, all of Shady Spring; four great grandchildren, Christian Runion and husband Jason, Keith Richmond and wife Kay, Michael Furrow, and Jaden Richmond; great-great grandchildren, Bryson Runion, Levi Runion, Makayla Runion, Raelynn Runion and Isaiah Richmond.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday, July 12, 2019 at noon with Rev. Otis Cales officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 P.M. until 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be J.D. Bennett, Ron Furrow, Michael Furrow, Alvin Meador, Tommy Dunn and Johnny Ballengee.
