Mrs. Ruby's Story
Mrs. Ruby Mae Evans, 82, of Hilltop, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 15, 2018.
She was born on April 6, 1935, in Minden, WV, to the late William Henry and Iola Mae Hooper.
She graduated from Dubois High School and went on to obtain her nursing degree from St. Joseph's College, Medical Center of Brooklyn School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She then worked in ICU at Brooklyn Hospital as Head Nurse Supervisor.
She is preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Hooper of Plainfield, NJ and her siblings, Charlie Hooper of Hilltop, WV, Annie Berger of Brooklyn, NY, Percy Hooper of Pittsburgh, PA, James Hooper of Brooklyn, NY, Carrie Moore of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew Hooper of Mt. Vernon, NY, Virginia Hooper of Mt. Vernon, NY, Johnny Hooper of Brooklyn, NY and Catherine Frazier of Jersey City, NJ.
She leaves to cherish precious loving memories her husband, Jordan Evans; sisters, Flossie Hooper and Henrietta Davis, both of Mt. Vernon, NY; sister-in-law, Catherine Hooper of Brooklyn, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..
Her life will be celebrated at 2:00PM Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hilltop Baptist Center, 285 Baptist Road, Hilltop with Rev. Charles Brown and Rev. David Allen officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Baptist Center.
