Oakley's Story

Oakley Edward Vicars, 87, of Oak Hill, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Bowers Hospice House.
Born June 29, 1929, in Dante, VA, and is a son to the late Charlie Oakley Vicars and Ossie Keith Vicars Smith.
Mr. Vicars served our country in the US Air Corps and attended the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah's Witness in Oak Hill.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nora Vicars, and brother, Bobby Lee Vicars.
Those surviving include his children, Edwina Mae Vicars-Smith, Robert Rohring (Sandy) of Palmetto, Fl, Donald Lee Baldry (Pam) of Barboursville, WV, Roxanne Denise Hendrick (Johnny) of Oak Hill, Barbara Lynn Wright of Oak Hill, William Carroll "Butch" Motley (Trish) of Mt. Hope, Jackson Lewis Vicars of White Plains, NY, Benjamin Loren Vicars (Kathy) of Prosperity, Timothy James Vicars (Kim) of Mt. Hope, and Melissa Dawn Bemis (Brian) of Madison, VA.
Funeral services for Mr. Vicars will be conducted at 2pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill, with Elder Samuel Lambert officiating.
Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park also in Oak Hill where the Oak Hill Post 3110 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Wednesday at High Lawn Funeral Home.
