Pansy's Story

Pansy Ann Halsey, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation in New Richmond.
Born June 14, 1927 in Pineville, WV, she the daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Farley Halsey.
A lifelong resident of Gulf Fork, Pansy was a 1944 graduate of Pineville High School and a 1948 graduate of Concord College. She taught Business classes at Baileysville High School for thirty-eight years, until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Antioch Regular Baptist Church.
After her father's death in 1960, Pansy took over running the family farm with the help of her brothers, Carson and Cash. Pansy was a dear and caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Known for her generosity, she was a devoted caregiver to her parents and her sisters whenever they needed her. She was a hard worker, a great cook, and an outstanding gardener who loved flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Earl and his wife, Vertle, Carson and his wife, Edna, Cash and his wife, Cora and Harry and his wife, Marie; two infant brothers, Billy and Hersey; two sisters, Ella Miller and Carrie Halsey; two brothers-in-law, Al Miller and Gray Morgan; and a nephew, Darrel Miller.
Pansy is survived by her sister, Wanda Morgan; nieces and nephews, Agnes Lively, Wade Halsey, Teresa Grygiel, Don Miller, Fred Halsey, Barbara Hager, Sandra Akers, Juanita Dooley, Anice Hatfield, William Halsey, Debbie Dean and David Morgan; great nieces and nephews and their children; former co-workers and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, 614 Appalachian Hwy, Pineville, with the Rev. Raybon Cook and Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Halsey Family Cemetery, Gulf Fork.
Friends may gather with the family 6 - 9 pm, Friday, November 17 at the funeral home.
Duane Farley, Dana Fatony, Fred Halsey, Jeff Halsey, Don Miller, Kenny Miller, and Howard Mullins will serve as pallbearers. Richard Farley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
