Philip Esman Estep, 82, of Horse Creek, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at his home after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1935 in Joes Creek, WV, to the late Wilmer E. and Edith Curry Estep. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers he is joining in Heaven, Bill Estep and Frank Estep.
Philip drove a bus for Raleigh County Schools for 27 years, before becoming a bus driver Philip was an electrician in the coal mines. He enjoyed playing bingo and loved fishing.
He left behind his loving wife, Shelby Jean Estep. They were married for 55 years. He has 3 children: daughter, Carla Kay Pettry and husband, Eric Pettry of Horse Creek; a son, Jackie Esman Estep of Horse Creek; and a daughter, Lisa Carol Daniel and husband, Jesse Daniel of Fairdale. He had 5 grandchildren: Natalie Persinger and husband, David Persinger of Rock Creek, James Pettry of Horse Creek, Brittany Estep of Charleston, Ashley Sowards of Ohio and Amy King and husband, Ray King of Beckley; 2 brothers, Harry Estep and wife, Karen Estep of Charleston and Eugene Estep and wife, Louise Estep of Charleston and a sister, Dottie Barker and husband, Bob Barker of Charleston. He had 12 great-grandchildren. Philip had lots of people near and dear to his heart. He had 2 people that he claimed as his children Crissie Scott and Chris Curry.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV, witih Pastor Stephen Smith officiating. Interment in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 at the funeral home.
