Ralph Daniel Carr Sr., age 68, of Dunns, WV, departed this life with his family beside him on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a short illness.
Born on July 1, 1949, at Blue Jay Six, he was the son of the late Charles Golden Carr, and Lakie Jo Epperly Carr Shrewsberry, and was the stepson of the late Clarence Shrewsberry.
Daniel was a disabled coal miner for Ranger Fuel Corporation. He was a graduate of Shady Spring High School in 1969. He enjoyed spending time with his family, "messing" with his chickens, and Facebooking as Golden Man. He also loved horses, hunting, being outdoors and enjoyed life in general.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Carr.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Brenda Akers of Dunns; his children, Christina Wilburn and husband, Artie of Ghent, Ralph Daniel Carr Jr., and wife, Lori, of Odd, Danny Carr of Cool Ridge and Amy Thompson and husband, Scott, of Shady Spring; brothers, Wes Carr and wife, Lynn, of Cool Ridge, and Butch Shrewsberry and wife, Vickie, of Ghent; grandchildren, Nathan Wilburn of Ghent, Bethany Aliff and husband, Kristian, of Ghent, Jacob, Matthew, and Andrew Carr of Wheeling, WV, Ethan and Danielle Carr of Cool Ridge, and Hannah Mills of Shady Spring. A great grandson, Grayson Wilburn of Ghent, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Daniel also leaves behind special friends, Brenda's children, Phil and Paul Akers of Dunns.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 3 PM, with Rev. Kevin Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Russ Lilly Cemetery at Blue Jay Six, Cool Ridge, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until 3 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Wilburn, Brian Shrewsberry, Matthew and David Britt, Joby Blevins, and Ethan Carr.
