Rev. Adam's Story
Rev. Adam F. Hanshew, Sr., 86, of Danese passed away January 29, 2018 peacefully at his home with his wife Lucy; son, Adam; daughter, Suzi and grandson Isaac by his side.
Born on December 13,1931, at Landisburg, he was the son of the late Daniel F. Hanshew and Ettie Belle Pitsenbarger Hanshew.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death 12 brothers and 3 sisters.
Adam was an ordained Freewill Baptist minister since 1975; a US Army veteran. Adam was a retired coal miner of 31 years and enjoyed being with his family, friends and farming; most importantly in life he enjoyed serving the Lord. He was a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather. The last thing he said to his wife is he wanted to go to heaven and be whole again; what a blessing to have that kind of peace.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Lucy L. Lewis Hanshew; 2 sons, Adam (Monica) Hanshew of Danese, Dale (Veronica) Hanshew of Mississippi; 1 daughter, Suzi (Derick) King of Fairdale; 3 grandsons, Isaac, Alex and Matthew Hanshew; sister, Louise Martin of Lewisburg; 2 special nieces, Joann Burdette and Cathy Jones; a special puppy, his constant companion, Buddy; host of family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to everyone who has called texted, sent food or any acts of kindness; special thanks to hospice care of Lewisburg for the care they gave in time of need.
Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Burial will follow at the Hanshew Family Cemetery, Danese. Friends may gather with the family Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
