Rev. Joseph's Story
Rev. Joseph Earl Cuthbertson, 84, of Fayetteville, WV went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2018, following a short illness.
A memorial service will be held at Gatewood Brethren Church on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00. Friends may call at 12:00. Rev. Tommy Blake and Rev. Scott Lester will be officiating. At his request there will be no funeral or graveside service.
Joseph was born October 24, 1933 in Smithers, WV to Thomas and Edna Mae Cuthbertson.
He was a proud United States Marine serving 1952 to 1955.
Joseph was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Ramona Senea Cuthbertson in March of 2016.
He is survived by four children, Joseph, Catherine, David and Alisa, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one step-grandchild and two brothers, Thomas Cuthbertson and Charles Cuthbertson.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ryan Newell, his doctor of many years, the VA Hospital of Beckley, their palliative staff and their home care physician and nurse, CAMC and their staff, Bowers Hospice House, their doctor and home care nurses, and all who have prayed and visited with him during this time.
We cannot express our gratitude to Oak Hill place. Their staff went above and beyond repeatedly showing him overwhelming kindness and respect. They were wonderful to our family during such a difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Bowers Hospice House of Cranberry or The Beckley VA Hospital.
