Ronald E. Clay, age 78, of Pineville, entered a new life Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
Born February 11, 1939, in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late Carl and Blanche Clay.
Ron was a devoted member of the Cook Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served on several church boards as well as serving as a deacon. He retired as the President of the Bank of Mount Hope in December 2016 and was still serving on the Board of Directors at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 47 years, Eva Jean Clay and his brother, Carl Sonny Clay.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four daughters; Kim Cook and her husband Jody, of Pineville, Melissa Cole and her husband, Jerry, of Winfield, Melinda Clay of Charleston and Julie Wyandt and her husband, Doug of Beaver; three grandchildren, Corey Seth Cook of Columbia MO, Paige Cook of Morgantown and Max Riggs of Beaver; sister, Joyce Goldberg and her husband Stu of Bayshore, NY; sister in law, Betty Clay of Beckley; several special nieces and nephews and a host of cherished friends.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff who have cared for him during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday August 11, 2017 at Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville, with the Rev. Keith Reed officiating, Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may call from 6-9pm Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Cook Memorial Baptist Church and one prior to the service Friday.
Pallbearers will be Jody Cook, Jerry Cole, Doug Wyandt, Kenny Bryant, Max Riggs, Corey Cook, Ben Susman and Tommy Smith.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ron's name to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801; Pineville Volunteer Fire Dept., Box 220, Pineville WV 24874; Cook Memorial Baptist Church, Box 337, Pineville, WV 24874.
