Roy's Story

Roy Lee Boone, 88, of Hilldale, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 4, 2017 at Harper Mills Care Home, following a long illness.
Born June 24, 1929 at Ronceverte he was a son of the late Charles Lewis Boone and Elizabeth Jackson Boone Morgan.
Roy was a veteran of the United States Army 298th ED Co. proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict and Chief Custodian of the Christiana School District in New Castle, DE. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church at Hilldale and a meritorious donor to the American Red Cross.
Roy enjoyed travelling, watching football (especially WV Mountaineers), gardening and the outdoors.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Andrews Boone; one son, Gary Dean Boone and twelve siblings, Edward A. "Tarney" Boone, Herman Morgan, Thelma Howard, Rev. Ed Morgan, Charlotte Reed, Annabelle Johnson, Wallace Morgan, Ralph Boone, Alfred Boone, Iva Hall, Mary Alice Boone and Rev. Sterling Morgan.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Jeannie Thompson of Hilldale; one son, Michael Boone and wife Sharon of Prince George, VA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Victor G. Morgan and wife Martha of Hinton; one sister, Barbara Morgan Scott and husband Bob of Millsboro, DE; two sisters-in-law, Sue Morgan of Lewisburg and Theresa Boone of Georgetown, DE; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family; caregivers, Lisa Tomlin and Susie Meadows; special buddy, Al Thomas of Alderson and adopted daughters, Carol Johnson and Pam Touhey.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Baker and Rev. Betty Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone.
Friends may call from 11 AM until time of services Saturday at the church.
Vic Morgan Jr., Scott Morgan, Tim Morgan, Dana Harris, Homer Jarrell and Eric Adkins will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
